A Year Ago at Studio Pepwuper

Megan and the Giant was released a year ago in February 2011. Our very first game! No it didn’t become the next Angry Birds, but it was an important milestone for the Pepwupers. It was the first game of its type – the first stealth action / puzzle game on the iOS. It started our fascination with imaginary Giants. And it was the very first game that I created solely by myself from scratch. It was amazing to see something becoming a reality from ugly sketches on paper.

Pen and paper was a key tool for designing Megan and the Giant as I came to realize that I am probably the least creative when I’ve been in front of the computer for too long. Here are a few early sketches for your entertainment. There are a lot of these and I’ll share more with you when they are better organized.

A lot of ideas had to be cut near the end of the 8-month development. It was a very lonely long process, but probably one of the most satisfying creative experience I’ve had when the game was released. It’s hard to believe it’s only a year ago, and it’s the game that got everything started for us. If you have a idea in your head, go ahead and make it happen. You’d be amazed what it can do for you!
